Nicole Aquillano

Nicole Aquillano lives outside Boston with her husband and three children. She has been sharing her ceramic work with the BWE since 2017. After leaving a career in civil engineering, she earned her MFA in ceramics from RISD. Nicole etches images into porcelain clay with a knife and inlays a bluish underglaze. The high temperature of the kiln combined with the clear glaze slightly blurs the drawing, like a faded memory. Nicole has been working full-time as a studio potter since 2012 and sells her work at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the RISD Museum shop, among others. “For me it’s all about connections, and the ability of place to define and connect people”.
